Ikhwan al-Muslimin dalam proses demokratik Mesir

"First, Brotherhood leaders have repeatedly declared that they have no immediate interest in ruling Egypt. Mohamed Badie, the Brotherhood's supreme guide, as well as Brotherhood spokesmen have clearly stated that they want no part in a transitional government, that they will not run a candidate for the presidency and that they will not compete for a majority of parliamentary seats. These are not the actions of a power-hungry, totalitarian movement." 

Demikian menurut Zack Gold dalam tulisan di World Politics Review bertajuk Muslim Brotherhood Deserves a Chance in Democratic Egypt. Rencana itu ialah sedutan tesis master beliau bertajuk The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood: Moderate Islamists, Moderate Democrats. 

Tajuk tesis tersebut memberi gambaran sikap "moderat" sebagai demokrat, yang mungkin menegaskan penulis itu menganggap Ikhwan tidak sepenuhnya demokratik.

Walau bagaimanapun, tidak ada satu pandangan diterima semua berhubung Ikhwan di Barat, malah di seluruh Asia Barat.
